Day Two: Bet

BET

Bet is the second letter. Out of all the letters the bible can start with, interestingly enough, it starts with the 2nd Letter. Some people ask why not Aleph? Why not the first? I believe it’s because Bet is the first letter with sound. It’s like an explosive sound. “Boom”. Like something powerful just happened. Bet is also the symbol for “house”, A roof, a Wall and Floor with a door. It’s like God started the bible with Bet to help us understand that he created with the purpose of having a Place to dwell in. Jacob had a dream where angels visited him and he said “Surely this place I slept in is the BETH EL: House of the Lord.” Father in Hebrew is written as ALEPH-BET “AB/Av” in other words “Man of the House.” That bible you’re holding in your hands is the Bet of God, a Dwelling Place, and the Story of Ben Aleph.. (Son of Man) Jesus Christ coming to dwell within the hearts of us all.. Bringing his Kingdom to make this place Home.

Psalm 119:9-16

9 Young people can live a clean life by obeying your word.
10 I worship you with all my heart. Don’t let me walk away from your commands.
11 I treasure your word above all else; it keeps me from sinning against you.
12 I praise you, Lord! Teach me your laws.
13 With my own mouth, I tell others the laws that you have spoken.
14 Obeying your instructions brings as much happiness as being rich.
15 I will study your teachings and follow your footsteps.
16 I will take pleasure in your laws and remember your words.

Exodus 20:1-21; 32:19-20

God used his very fingers to write down ten commandments on two tablets. Why didn’t he just dictate? Why did he himself come and write on those tablets? They must have some very important meaning. So you can imagine the pain when Moses came down the mountain and saw all the disgusting wicked things these people were doing at the foot of the mountain. There excuse was that Moses died at the top and they created their own Gods to protect them. the First broken tablets was a foreshadow of these very people breaking their covenant and promise with God. But then God made Moses a NEW set of tablets. They were NEW but exactly the Same as for First one. This was a foreshadowing of a new covenant, not a new set of ten commandments. Once the old covenant fulfills it’s purpose, the new one will be established forever.

Jeremiah 31:31-36; 33:15-16

The weeping Prophet with fire shut up in his bones prophesied about the New Covenant. If you wanted details as to what happened with the old one, and what will be provided by the new one, this is where you’ll find it. Old covenant under the Old Adam, New Covenant under the New Adam. These covenants are like promises that God made with man. Under the old Promise God wrote his laws on tablets and people had to go teach them to others. Under the New Promise God will write those same laws in people’s hearts. No one has to go teach you. They just have to remind you of the Promise and God’s Word will spark in your heart. Chapter 33 Shows you Exactly who will initiate this new Promise. He will be a branch from David, the Old Promise were carried by kings who failed, the New Promise is carried by a king established for all eternity.

1 Corinthians 10:1-10; 11:23-26

Paul knows the stories of the Old Covenant and New Covenant very well. He grew up with these stories. Notice that even though the Israelites literally went through what they went through, It was all spiritual as well as physical. Israel committed disgusting wicked acts, men raping their own brothers and sisters, Mothers sacrificing their own children, imitating the rituals and practices of the Demonic spirits of Egypt. Some people don’t understand the seriousness of these sins, and there was no one righteous enough to cover them. Who will cast out the demons? Who will rebuke evil spirits? They thought God set them free only to leave them out here to die. So they created their own gods and did disgusting things to earn favor. Yet Paul goes on to say these are all examples for us, we are not to copy them, we have a new Promise, God’s presence dwells with in us. Thanks to Jesus Christ we are partakers of the Bread and Wine of Jesus Christ, we now have a righteous one that can cover us, and cast out these demons and purify our souls. No more excuses. God’s word has been established forever.
